Kathryn Warwick Art
My inspiration comes from the natural world. From tiny insects to birds and mammals, I try to capture a moment in time and preserve it's beauty on paper.
I work with watercolours, inks, pencils, sometimes linocut printing, and more recently oils.
My original works are displayed in private collections in Australia, England, USA, and Japan. Some of my paintings and drawings are available as limited edition prints (See Shop).

My Journey
Nature has fascinated me from an early age. My primary school teachers on the NW coast of England where I grew up eventually became accustomed to my late arrival at school each day, justified by a handful of snails, an unusual seed pod, or an interesting beetle.
I studied art and science at high school, went to University and followed a career in biology in Oxford for 15 years. During this busy time I found very little time for art.
After emigrating to beautiful rural NSW in 2004, I found I once again had time to paint and draw. I took a course in Natural History Illustration with Newcastle University, which honed my drawing and observation skills, and more importantly, taught me to dedicate time to pursue my art.
I am here surrounded by inspirational wildlife, and particularly enjoy studying Australia's spectacular birds. Recently I have been able to donate my art to support the work of organisations dedicated to preserving Australian wildlife and habitat: The Bob Brown Foundation (proceeds from original artwork), The Wilderness Society (fundraiser tea towels), and Birdlife Australia, (Commemorative tea towel design).

He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.”
